      In your tut https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90yOLhqfCn8
My 3d viewport oblject/cube doesn’t change at all. At 2:50 you can turn your color off and it changes in the 3d viewport. I have the viewport shading set to textured. If I change the viewport shading to rendered it works fine. I’d like to do what you do and not be in rendered mode.
Also when ever I do anything in the texture panel like you, it never updates in 3d viewport. I either have to be in rendered mode or actually render out the object to see what my adjustments have done.
      Win XP

      Thanks

Dude, super sorry took so long to reply to this. I tried several things out and couldn’t repeat your results. If whatever image I was working on could render out then it would also appear in the 3D View while the texture mode was set to “Textured”. Are you using Sensei Format? This may be an issue related to Win Xp and Sensei Format that I’m unaware of because I’ve never tested it on XP. Only other real basic thing I can think of, which I’m sure you’ve already done, is to make sure the object you’re working on is selected (will be highlighted in orange in the outliner, or highlighted in white in the 3D View if it is.) Otherwise, I’m not sure. Maybe try changing the shading in the properties menu (T and to the right using Sensei Format) (N and to the right if not). Now that I think about it, if your system is older it may not work with GLSL shading, you might try changing it to Multitexture.

Oi… just checked it out, turns out those effects are only available while using GLSL shading (in the properties menu to the right when you hit “T” or “N”). The color or normal mapping settings won’t update if under you can only use Multitexture shading.
