If I want to append a library item by pressing append or trying to drag it into the scene, different things are happening, not at the same time. This is happening since I upgraded to Blender. A
1. It replaces the scene I’m working on, even if I try to put it on a different layer. The new Library button only shows up occasionally. see append1.jpg
2. It opens Nothing at all in Edit Strokes. Also, I don’t know why but I Save a file and I get 2 files one is title.blend and the other is title.blend1. If I click to open either one from a folder outside of blender, the blend1 isn’t the last save I did on it it is when I 1st save the file. (I don’t know what I’m doing wrong) See append2.jpg for wrong file names see append4.jpg
3. It works occasionally (who knows) or does nothing at all.
4. Or I get that its not supported. All of these are blend files. Out of all the attempts I got it to work 1 time, (it wasn’t the file I wanted…) and it opened.

Also I didn’t know that pressing the down area in the library saved it as a zip file, in the tutorial it seems its saves as a blend so you can append it.

ive been renaming the file, when you use the down arrow it saves it as a .blend1 you have to get rid of the 1.. hope that helps

When I save as for the initial save, it gives me 2 files.

Hi Ketre. I’m going to attempt to respond to the issues in order:

by pressing append or trying to drag it into the scene, different things are happening

Sorry if I’m not correctly understand what you’re conveying (feel like I might be) but dragging a blend file out into the 3D view will only open that new file, to append the item to the file you must select the file then press append (so different things happening here is expected).

By “new library button” I assume you’re referring to the DND Environments library button? If not, please let me know what you mean. That button may or may not display in different files depending on whether or not you disabled the DND Env library button feature within a certain file then saved that file. That setting (for that button being off) would be saved and thus loaded in whatever file you opened. Also, if that is what you’re talking about, would recommend disabling it in any file it does show up in because the Sensei Format Assets Library button does the same thing (the widget found in DND ENV will be included in the default Sensei Format Assets Library button in the next update).

It opens Nothing at all in Edit Strokes

I’m not sure what’s going on when you try to open something while in Edit Strokes mode. I’ve tested this on my end, it seems to be working both when appending files and drag and dropping them from the assets library.

Whenever you see “.blend1” that is an autosave backup file. This happens when the option “Auto Save Temporary Files” or “Keep Session” in User Preferences > File tab is checked.

Also I didn’t know that pressing the down area in the library saved it as a zip file, in the tutorial it seems its saves as a blend so you can append it.

EDIT* Sorry, didn’t notice you said “zip” file here. No, the assets library does not save files as zip file (though it can append zipped files without the user first unzipping them). It definitely doesn’t save them as zip though, you must have placed a zip file in there (or one got in there somehow) and didn’t notice it.

If you let your mouse hover over any of the Assets Library options you’ll see a readout of what all the buttons do in order. It would be nicer if each button had individual explanations, but coding in Blender sometimes makes it difficult to create individual explanations for each button, when the buttons belong to a single tool (like the assets library) that does a bunch of things. The ideology is, you press an up arrow to open the library (as in bringing stuff out of the library up into the 3D View) and you press the down arrow to drop stuff (save it into the current open folder) below into the assets library.

I’m not sure if it’s related to any of your issues but there have been several bug corrections for the next release of Sensei Format which is coming out soon. If after upgrading, the problems still persist, we can continue to narrow in on them.

Ahh ok on the dragging part, I watched the tutorial on that…been too long. I tried that because I couldn’t get it to work last night, perhaps I just needed to reboot. It’s happened to me several times so I decided to say something.

I got it to work 2x this a.m. by pressing the append button, (I do have to save and shut blender down often tho) and it was the append button that I was getting errors in.

I will check that box to turn that library button off. It showed up tho and I wasn’t trying to bring in an environment I was trying to append a file. It only happened once tho. I thought maybe I didn’t see that button because of Zero Brush.

And ok on this

Also, I don’t know why but I Save a file and I get 2 files one is title.blend and the other is title.blend1. If I click to open either one from a folder outside of blender, the blend1 isn’t the last save I did on it it is when I 1st save the file. (I don’t know what I’m doing wrong) See append2.jpg for wrong file names see append4.jpg, it explains alot

I was following the course on building the rollercoaster last night, when I pressed the down area to save it in the library is when I noticed the zip file.
