I can constrain IK using the built in Lock IK functions, but upon moving the target to a position outside of the range, it doesn’t behave as expected.

To elaborate, I can achieve the expected results on one axis, where the yoke remains stationary while the head rotates:

Target moving along the X axis, rig behaving as expected

But when I move the target along the Y axis, the yoke does not rotate to cause the head to point towards the target:

Yoke is unable to rotate to point the head toward the target

To be clear, this is what exactly I want:

      • The yoke should rotate around the Y axis to point the head toward the object
      • The head should then rotate around the Z axis to point the beam toward the object

If there is more information I need to provide, please tell me, otherwise the .blend file is attached

      Thanks

Alright, so I’m sorry for wasting everyone’s time here.

I managed to fix the issue by fixing my chain length (chain length was 2 not 1), my mistake.
