I was hoping Blender 4 was going to enable HIP on Linux, but doesn’t appear to be a easy simple solution from installing a Linux Distro and Blender. I’m not too savy with Linux, and on the brink of giving up on it or just use Nvidia cards if I go roll with Linux. For now I’ll just stick with Windows on my AMD GPU. Does any of sany simple instructions to get HIP working for Linux Mint or Unbuntu? Or is HIP too unstable in Linux at this time?

After trying Fedora 39 Workstation I managed to get it so my RX 5700XT and 6700 were visible from watching this video.

Now the problem is it not stable and Blender just locks up after enable HIP. Maybe this works with the older Fedora and a older version of Blender. Definately a better video than any others I have seen.

This is crazy man. I’m getting ready to pull the trigger on hardware for a new rebuild on my PC. This equipment is exactly what I was considering purchasing! 0_0 Almost makes me paranoid that this popped up after days of searching on the net and not finding what I was looking for. This is exactly what I needed to see. Awesome. Thanks for posting this thread.
