i’m following the crash course and i love it because it seems very simple and it’s funny!
By the way i have some problems with the draw skin tool when trying to do a very simple character.
in a certain point i can’t no more extrude and all the mesh faces merge to one point. i tried in different ways but i can’t understand why, can someone help me?

Hi. Thanks. Sorry you’re having trouble. Could you upload the actual file (or one similar where you can repeat the same problem if you don’t want to upload the actual file)? This will be the fastest way for me to figure out what’s going on.

Very helpfull! i tried to do it an other time and the effect doesn’t appear, but i don’t know why.
So I tried to repeat the effect in the new file I will send.
It’s probably because i tried to extrude the starting point of the “draw skin” downward?

One thing going on, the second vertex point from the bottom (this is where the implosion is) is duplicated and in the same spot. So looks like you started an extrusion but then didn’t move the point you extruded, or canceled the movement, and left it in place. That seems to be the main problem. So when you find a spot like that, go into edit mode, click on the vertex point and try to move it, if it’s apparent there’s a double, delete it.

Another way to troubleshoot with this is to disable the visibility of the subsurf modifier to see what it’s core mesh looks like underneath. You can disable the viewport visibility of an object’s modifier by pressing the eye icon on the particular modifier. As you can see, the actual skin modifier doesn’t generate a whole lot of mesh around the vertex points, so it can get tangled up sometimes. That’s why in the video I mention you have to occasionally play around with the scale and placement of the vertex points to get them to play nice. Also, be sure to play around with all the skin modifier options while in edit mode, to get a feel for them.

Now I understand what was the mistake and why in the new file do not appear.
      thank you, Sensei.
